How YOU can land a passenger aircraft! 12 steps
Cool aviation stuff! 👉🏻 www.amazon.com/shop/mentourpilot
What if a Passenger was the ONLY one left to land the plane? Could a passenger theoretically do it, without ANY previous knowledge or training?
In todays Special video, I will go through the required steps that will have to be taken in the cockpit in order to set the aircraft up for a safe auto-land. There will be around 20 different individual steps that needs to be taken and none of them can be omitted or done in the wrong order. This all depends on the passenger getting into contact with Air Traffic Control and being reasonably close to a suitable runway.

I met a retired commercial pilot at a party. I asked him the possibility of a passenger to land a plane like in the movies. He thought for a second asked, you mean someone with no flying experience at all. None at all. He paused and said “ Not in one piece “
Amazing.
Holy shit! This is the most intense video I’ve seen in a long time. Great stuff as usual, Mentour!
this is a brilliant video, hopefully there is some way to allow others to see it. Most people who watch your videos are probably already involved in the industry or are sim pilots, thinking that they can already land a plane because they have a pmdg flight sim addon on their PC...
I am furiously writing these 12 steps down on a 3x5 inch index card to keep in my carry on case forever.
The BEST part of this video is the hilarious comments! I haven’t laugh this hard in years!
Thank you so much for this video! I landed my first commercial flight!
Are we to trust instructions from someone who clearly can't count? Which of the 35,568,825,403,370.99 steps in the video are the 12 referenced in the title....
If you become type rated on the aircraft you are a passenger on, then yes. You can. Encapsotated.
0:01 Plane is banking to the left, stop recording...
Pretty smart planes now days
I want a big Red button that auto select's the emergency frequency put in every plane NOW ! Thank you. 😕
Question. If I don't know my callsign but know the flight number, will it work?
So if this happens the plane is doomed because the average Joe cannot even start following this... Anyway, what about dumping the fuel is that necessary?
No fuel dumping system on the 737NG
Yes of course, I’m an Airline Technician 👏👏👏
Wow that was really awesome 😎...! Do most pilots do a manual land or automatic lands...?
Answer is no
I thought for 30 minutes that I was the Pilot and that I did land that aircraft.
I've often fantasized about landing a plane as a passenger and becoming a hero. After watching the video I got disappointed. The Autopilot will get most of the credit.
Well I am only confuse with Altitude and turning the rest I can do I am fine with throttle Flaps ATC, Land Gear, Radio transmission, Auto pilot and ILS.
Haha, so funny, so many steps. Just step one, change your communication frequency, is already pretty challenging. And don't forget to adjust your seat and put on your seatbelt before you crash.
Awesome! This is good to know, as more hijackings are possible as long as staff is getting out of the cockpit. LOL
There should be a single emergency button to connect the radio, in an emergency situation, without having to perform manual resets.
Are these simulations? Because that would be bad if it was a real plane flying
Of course😉
Perhaps, it won't happen with me, but I'll save this video
Well, I will keep this video on my phone, just in case
_Co-pilot: _*_Am I a joke to you?_*
It’s kinda funny I was just watching a video about adjusting the seat to line up with the sights and I was thinking if I was ever going to need to land an Aircraft it’s probably something to do about 1,327 steps into it! 😂❤️✌🏼🇺🇸
*_Hey FBI, I'm just watching this because I'm... Uhh... My grandpa, he's a pilot, he want me to learn something new..._*
*_Same thing to you, Aviation Service._*
Google it ! Oh snap no internet
Just playing in a simulator
Does this count as my 737 type rating? Asking for a friend...
Fantastic, brings back a few memories in days gone by. Thank You for sharing this.
Love the way you say Owwto land instead of Auto (Orrto) land. 😁
now please a landing tutorial if LSI is off on the airport
A parachute in your hand luggage 🧳 would come in handy.
The correct squak code in this situation would be 7 *5* 00.
The real question would be : if the pilots are gone for some reason, is there always any other member in the plane , trained for landing (mandatory )
Imagine someone is watching this as the plane is actually going down and they KGcoded how to do it
Im confused with what the Pilot and Co pilot can control
Im confused with what the Pilot and Co pilot can control
What a fantastic video. Flight Sim pilots worldwide will be following your every word. Please can I have a go in your real simulator :) Thanks Mentour Pilot great job.
Step 1 put on clean underwear
Did he say 20 steps? Cause I counted 100 plus😂
Nah, I would just use slew mode 😂
Amazing work, adds a lot of safety and education for us all 👏🏽
You forgot to list the first step - changing my shorts after entering an empty cockpit!
Would have to be free ballin because my change of shorts would be in cargo lol
IMPEACH 46 !!! IMPEACH 46 !!! IMPEACH THIS SENILE PUPPET OF A PRESIDENT !!!
👍 good work 👍
The less passengers know about the cockpit, the better.
Even if it happens. You can’t access to the cockpit. Look what happens in germanwings plane.
1:10😉
I was glued to the screen while trying to take all this in. Now, I'm panicking lest I forget!
😍😍😍😍Love et...
Its amazing and truly flawless and off course life saving guide to land airplane most safely...above all person giving instruction providing remarkably mesmerising instructions....
I was doing a surgical procedure one day when my boss walks in just as I nick an artery, and blood is spraying everywhere. As I'm trying to get the bleeding under control my boss smiles, and says, "Don't worry. All bleeding stops eventually." Well, all planes comes down eventually too.
Who knew you could do that! Just my luck, the FCC would fine me for using the radio without a license.
Dont think the Flight Contol Computer issues fines..🤭😉
i guess i would do fine then. I already knew how to operate the radio.
Anyone else on a plane atm?
i didnt touch the yoke, i had a vegetarian dish. how do you manage watching the end of the in flight movie while doing this?
Put radio to I/C: Mayday Mayday both pilots are dead, I'm a passenger and I have no idea what I'm doing. Please assist. I don't wanna die.
Leave it to me, I got this!
In case of rapture...
جزاكم الله خيرا 🐜
point 1 .. how i now i transmit .. push som botton or ?? or just speek .. no contact whit the ground you lost in space .. i dont understand you forget so importen info
Being an ex pilot I find it very instructive and very well put. I really loved the video.
👍
I going and try this on my flight sim
All allah akhbars are just interested in to how to take off :)))
I hope theres Wifi on the plane cause im gonna need to pause and go back n bit...
Dont panic lol....
who else is learning this while trying to learn how to land an airplane ? Just me? wish me luck guys.
I was lost just trying to find a frequency! ... we will be doomed!
Fake news
He left the White House didnt he?🤪
So. FIRST STEP - contact ATC and emergency number is the most important !!
😂😂😂
FLIGHT ATTENDANT: DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FLY AN AIRPLANE? ME: RAISES HAND ALSO ME IN THE COCKPIT: HOW DO I ADJUST THIS DAMN CHAIR NOW?
Left Behind. Only 1 non-believer left on board and he has to save himself!
Non-believer of what?😆
i can land that bucket, but only if i can turn off autopilot.
I would just try and land the plane manually
There should be ONE button (bright red saying 'PUSH IN EMERGENCY') to push that automatically puts the radio into emergency mode on every plane.....doesn't that make more sense than to have to remember where the radio is located and what frequency to use BEFORE someone can contact someone to help them?
Just a little food for thought...training videos like this one are shown to terrorist organizations all over the world.
Passenger needing to land an aircraft - step 1... look up this video on youtube
Nice one
Mayday mayday mayday I'm a passenger and I'm shitting my pants in the cockpit. I need help with landing the plane quickly cause I need to go to the toilet
This was cool.
Give the passengers instructions on how to land as well along with the safety procedures. Don't even know how to contact the air traffic control. I'll take a seat in the cockpit and shit myself.
This was a great video to watch, hope I'm never in that situation but very interesting.
Yes, of course, but imagine how great the feeling would be to actually pull it off! I wonder if it's ever been done?
Great Job!!!!
I believe there was 47 people onboard
Where? In the simulator?😆
I would prefer to take the seat on the left - just like in a car - so I can operate the throttle with my right hand, just like the gear level. This would be much more convenient.
On the step #1 I literally already have a shit in my pants.
It would be easier if they made these planes with alexa.. haha
The mall in Berlin?! 😆🤷🏻♂️
I read/saw somewhere that in the entire history of commercial aviation there has _never_ been a case of the entire flight crew being unable to land the place and a passenger forced to do it (other than perhaps terrorist situations). Certainly in over a hundred years there have been cases where the pilot or copilot was incapacitated -- he had a heart attack, he "had the fish", etc. -- but the other flight crew member was always able to safely land the aircraft. My father was a flight engineer for several airlines -- Emery, MGM Grand, a few others. Despite being blind in one eye I'm sure he would have been able to land a plane safely. The next step in automation should be a big, well labeled button in the cockpit called "Land Plane". If Falcon 9 boosters can automatically land intact then certainly we can make a plane do it too.
@Gangfire Oh, the general/commercial distinction here is what I missed. It has most likely never happened with commercial flights indeed. The wikipedia article "Talk-down aircraft landing" lists several generall aviation cases.
@amjan There have been several instances of not-fully-qualified pilots safely landing planes (i.e. no/superficial injuries), but in every single case it was general aviation, not a _commercial_ flight. I did a little additional research and could not find a KGcode video where a non-flight-crew person on a commercial flight successfully landed the plane. One looked promising, a 15-year old who (as claimed) successfully landed a 737-800, but sadly it was click bait -- it was a _simulator_ landing. There's another case of a USAF B-1 pilot who was a passenger on the flight and assisted the First Officer, but he did not land the aircraft. But if there is a success video of a passenger landing a commercial flight I'd certainly like to see it, I love success stories like this. Please link the video here.
There have been cases of a passanger landing a plane. You'll finds report on this on KGcode.
Think flight 522 is the only flight were this could have been a possibility🤔
What's those 2 big rims with white stripes?
Thank you
It's a good thing he put the disclaimers at the beginning of this video, because if I were ever on a plane where both the pilots were incapacitated and I was the most qualified person of the hundred or so other people on the plane because I watched a KGcode video, and we weren't able to resuscitate either pilot, and I didn't adjust my seat correctly and we all died in a firey crash.... I'd be sure to file a lawsuit!!
Well this is about the coolest video I've watched in the last 10 years!
There should be an aviation nobel prize looool
Let's be realistic about this. Most people *should* be able to land an airplane with assistance, but the reality is that most people struggle to parallell park a car.
I have a friend that works for United Airlines in their flight simulators. I was able to land a 787.....It was a hard landing, but the sim said the plane would have survived.
