These are the asteroids to worry about
Stephen Hawking thought an asteroid impact posed the greatest threat to life on Earth. Thanks to Kiwico for sponsoring this video. For 50% off your first month of any crate, go to kiwico.com/veritasium50

I think a 10km impactor could still come from the Oort cloud, so the probability there is not really zero.
Puny humans.
I feel bad for dinosaur 😔😭

My family visited the Arizona crater in 50s. We all knew and the tourist office also said that it was a meteor crater. Never heard anyone suggest it was a result of a volcano.
I was hoping for a small up-to-date catalogue and review of asteroids such as the "Apophis" one. Didn't get one.

We could probably get diving equipment and when the asteroid hit and go in the the middle of the ocean and dive into the water (ik yall are smarter but it was my idea)

I don't want to die
imagine if mars collides into earth
But if we lonch a megnet it vill turn a astroid becou it' s iron
Were very lucky that even if a hundred meter meteor hit us, there is a Absolute Zero percent chance it could hit a major city
I wanna see once before I die
didn't Nova use some of the footage of the chicxulub meteriorite in one of there documenturies

But why can't other nations send missiles to hit 1-2km asteroids by tracing it's trajectory when they are closer to Earth(Like when they are just above Earth surface) It will atleast minimize the focused damge ryt? 🤔🤨🧐
This planet can go at anytime and left remaining in the universe are trillions of other planets exactly like ours but each planet will have humans that speak different languages, wear different hair styles and clothes, and have different rock and pop bands, and different movies and videogames.
Now I want a T-Rex skull.
You only get to live once so make the best of it we can die at any minute keep safe
So, you are telling me that the big bang took place BILLIONS of years ago, and this piece of rock/metal is part of a planet from that explosion... soooo, that little rock has been floating around the universe for BILLIONS OF YEARS?!? Your brain is fried, man.
I love when they say "this asteroid is about 4.5 billions years old." Like they know the actual age of the rock. Not 2, not 3, not 5 billions years old...4.5. Lol.
They count the candles on its cake bruh
Reminds me about the Colossal titan kicking a hole in the wall Imao
If you're reading this you made it to 2021. You are blessed 🙏
Dont worry superman will save the day
"There are roughly a thousand one kilometer asteroids, and they're still capable of doing a lot of damage ". Me: flex tape
I don't know why but I want to mine the sh out of these asteroids, the amount of resources must be tremendous !!
I'm interested in that T-Rex head! Where can I get one! ^..^~~
am scared now
cool
14:25 "and, this could happen tomorrow?" *[softly] don't...*
Nuking an asteroid should not be disregarded. I believe it's the most viable approach and doing in near proximity to Earth's atmosphere would prevent the chunks from clumping back together, allowing a greater surface area of Earth's atmosphere to burn the chunks.
I feel sad when thinking about how dinosaurs would have felt back then...
Lmao nice name.
Way more intense than my pocket ace asteroid video. 😳
Chee leb enz
Wow
😭😭😭😭😭🌏🌒☄️
So, basically this video and others like it, are fear mongering.. right? Maybe we all need to just dig a hole, and hide. Shut down our cars, our manufacturing, quit our jobs cause that causes all sorts of stiff and just HIDE.. right?
Well the aphopis in 2013 didn't really hit anything

The ONLY thing I can say is... Sometimes, it IS aliens. Closer and closer to disclosure, CIA put out like 5600 redacted docs
so they missed the one over Russia , funny that , aye !
The main thing that scares me about this presentation is at the end where he describes Christmas as 'the holidays'. The end of the world might be a few years off but the end of common sense is already here.
Comet's?
Stop thinking about bad things and worrying all your life lets enjoy our life until we really die
Guys relax, y'all gonna forget this in two days.
Where is Bruce Willis when you need him? Surely it striking the ocean is worse that striking the land?!

Hello I love your video so much🔰🌻🍎🍍🌺🐹
O man
just need to fire nuclear weapon on them cause nuclear weapons are invented to get rid of those not war
An asteroid would probably hit the water though
This documentary was so interesting. It’s so important to learn about astronomy. And so fascinating.
Its soooooo cool

Fact: Duende/duwende in Filipino means "dwarf" in English
mmmm remove the "a" from asteroids
The scariest thing is how big they are, the bigger asteroid, the bigger explosion it’s basically a nuke but way stronger (depending on the size)
The last astroid hit 66 million years ago lol
All the cool stuff happens in Russia
I think its better not to know when disaster will strike...
Dont give 2021 any ideas please.....
Send a plasti-dip bomb to the object and paint it :)
2021 be like write that down write that down!!
was watching this at 3am, fell asleep 3mins into it got up at 6am, resumed watching it and fell asleep again, his voice bru
You should do a video measuring the effect of parenthood on your carbon footprint.
"If we saw it coming, what would we do?" Me: oof it with a nuke
If you have a whole bunch of small nukes and use them as kind of rocket engines like an Orion drive!!
using nukes(depending on the size of the asteroid) to push it away from earth direction seems like a legit strategy just have to be careful to not break it
Or push it in the sun
@Naser Rasse oof the nuke in the center of the asteroid would send it in 2 parts and many small pebbles
Oof it with a nuke will send multiple asteriods
Imagine getting a 4 billion years old rock
The flood

We might not have 10km asteroid but we have covid readyly available
There is another coming in couple months

No doubt Smith Trading Services is very good, I invested $5,000 and cashed out $14,700 after 3 weeks. I still wonder how they get their analysis.
Hey someone talked about researching and trading without professional guide...huh I laugh you, because you will remain where you are or even make huge losses that will stop you from trading, this has been one of the biggest problems to new traders.
What do you mean by that, you think that's a nice idea😕🤷🏻♂?
